Growing Our Own Wheat!
We have been kindly given some wheat to grow...we watched a video and read the information how it’s done by a farmer and then prepared and planted our own wheat!
The normal looking wheat has been sieved to get the juiciest, plumpest grains. This gives it the best chance to grow.
The red wheat has been dressed with some chemicals which help protect the plant in the early stages and stronger roots.
Seed rate - 270 kg/ hectare ( 108kg/ acre ) around 400 seeds per m2
4cm deep at a spacing of 12-16cm
