Garden & Grow Update – End of Year Roundup

As we wrap up the 2024–2025 school year, we’re excited to share some wonderful updates from our Garden & Grow team!

Over the past term, we’ve been hard at work developing the brand-new wildlife area, which officially opened a few weeks ago. The pond is now thriving, full of plants and buzzing with life, providing a perfect habitat where local wildlife can flourish. There are nettles for the butterflies and a 'Mini Beast Metropolis' for all of the creepy crawlies. Along with a 'Pollinator Pathway' also for the bees. We also have official bat boxes which are monitored.

On Tuesday, the children enjoyed harvesting a fantastic selection of vegetables from our garden and Grow vegetable patch. We’re proud to say that we make all of our own compost on site, and even brewed a batch of homemade nettle stew to use as a natural fertiliser! Just look at the photo of all the wonderful colours of the vegetables that the children harvested on Tuesday. We have Sweetcorn, babycorn, tomatoes, carrots, onions, beetroot, courgettes, cucumbers, purple beans and potatoes.

Our Reflective Garden has also taken shape beautifully, and the entrance of school now features a striking butterfly sculpture surrounded by vibrant flowers. In addition, we’ve created a dedicated Spanish area to complement the children’s curriculum, a colourful and creative space for with flowers.

A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers and local businesses whose generosity and time have helped keep the garden at Bleasby CofE School looking beautiful. Your support means the world to us!

Wishing you all a lovely, sunny summer and we look forward to seeing you in the autumn term!
